River Oak Outdoors is a custom woodworking shop with the sportsman in mind.  Whether it is a custom gun cabinet, a display case for your collectible calls and decoys, or a piece of furniture for your taxidermy mounts, we can create it all.

Our passion is to create functional furniture pieces that showcase your sportsman heritage.  Working hand in hand with our clients from concept to completion, we take pride in handcrafting furniture tailored to you specific needs. About Founder Michael Wright

With a passion for hunting and woodworking Michael Wright founded River Oak Outdoors to help other sportsmen proudly display their hunting heritage in their homes and offices. 

Mike is an avid deer and duck hunter who resides in central Missouri.  Growing up he followed his father in the woods since he could walk learning to hunt deer and turkey.  It wasn’t until college that Mike was introduced to duck hunting by a fellow football buddy.  From that first duck hunt he was hooked and a new love of waterfowl hunting was formed. 

Mike has always appreciated the beauty and talent involved in fine woodworking.  He started out building decks and other small projects.  One summer he decided to build his dad a gun cabinet for Christmas.  Working with his father-in-law he started learning the skills necessary for cabinets and furniture.  That first gun cabinet got delayed from a Christmas present to a Father’s Day gift due to the time required to build it.  Mike looks back now at that crude first gun cabinet and laughs at all of the mistakes he made but his dad is still proud of it.  He continues to improve his skill and appreciation for fine woodworking with each project.

Faith and family are most important to Mike.  He loves Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and tries to live his life accordingly.  He is married to his beautiful bride Jenna and has a son named Samuel.  Mike has always dreamed of having a career that allows him to make a living doing something that he loves…with River Oak Outdoors he is pursuing that dream.
